I take this route weekdays to get from my rental room near the AUB to the Music Conservatory In Downtown in Beirut. It's a bit of a long walk, about an hour to get there and back. I'm usually thinking about all sorts of things while walking. Most of the time they are just petty thoughts or some tune I'm playing over in my head. I also see a lot of people along the way. Most of them are constructions workers, because there are buildings rising up on my route. It's noisy and dusty all over. I try to walk on the opposite site of those sites. I think about these guys' hard lives and sometimes imagine having discussions with them up there in the high levels they are rising up.
